Summer
Solstice Beach Cleanup
The solstice of our favorite season is rapidly approaching
and what better way is there to prepare for it's 2008 birth
than by providing a clean coastline?
Please join in showing Mother Nature that we're ready
for 3 months of West Coast perfection by cleaning up our
local beaches and watching the sunset with brilliant beings.
Trash bags will be provided at the following locations
from 6:30PM - 8:30PM on Friday, June 20th:
Redondo Beach: Avenue A; at the bottom of the ramp, on
the sand
Hermosa Beach: 2nd Street; facing the ocean, on the left
side of the bathrooms, on the sand
Manhattan Beach: 26th Street; west side of the strand,
on the sand
As of now, the plan is to approach any and all local
shops to ask for donation promises of up to $1 per bag
filled. All proceeds will go to www.oceandetox.org
in support of their collaboration with Dr. Marcus Eriksen
& Joel Paschal on their 7 week raft trip to Hawaii.
The raft was made out of 15,000 recycled bottles in an
effort to "raise awareness about plastic debris fouling
our oceans." If you would like to read more, check
out http://junkraft.blogspot.com.
Redbull is helping to sponsor the event, so energy will
be provided.
Hope to see as many of you there as possible. I know
you're all extremely busy people, so if you can't make
it, thank you for reading this and remember that as well
as Summer Solstice, June 20th has also been designated
International Surfing Day, so try to get out there and
catch a wave or watch the sunset!
A letter to our
potential sponsors
